Learning to shop at CVS & Walgreens

Since I started blogging a few months ago I really have been learning alot about couponing and how to shop at CVS & Walgreens to get more bang for your buck.  I usually only went into these stores to pick up prescriptions or birthday cards.  Did you know that you can use a coupon from the Walgreens paper and use a manufacturer coupon for the same item?  I didn't know that.  For instance last week Dawn dish detergent was on sale for 99 cents with the coupon from the Walgreens paper....I had a $1.oo off 2 dawn detergents manufacturer coupon...sooooo I got 2 detergents for 98 cents!!

A few weeks ago I earned $2.50 extra care bucks from CVS.  I think it was because I purchased 5 puffs plus tissues which were on sale for $1.00 and I had 5 coupons I received from a sample of puffs plus from Vocal Point.  The tissues cost me 50 cents a box and I earned the $2.50 Extra care bucks.  Normally I would have held on to that extra buck in my wallet and remember to use it after it expired.  After reading someone's blog last week (can't remember which one) this woman says she uses her register rewards from Walgreens and Extra Care Bucks from CVS to buy staples like milk, bread, and eggs.  She was right!  Insead of hanging on to those little rewards and waiting to see what you can use them on why not use them for everyday staples.  I went back into CVS and purchased a box of Sweet and Low for $2.89 used my extracare bucks and only paid 39 cents out of pocket.  This was something I needed and would have purchased it at the regular food store.

I am now becoming a regular shopper at the drug stores and trying not to purchase things I don't need.  My next step is going to be putting my coupon savings in an envelope everytime I use a coupon to see how much money I am actually saving with coupons.  Then maybe Mr. Wonderful will stop calling me cheap and realize that I am really saving money.  Just maybe my coupon savings can take us on vacation!!

Happy Earth Day

Don't forget today is the day we should focus more on saving Mother Earth.  Reduce, Re-use and Recycle is my goal today.  Getting rid of Phantom electricity.  Those are things that are plugged in and not being used like cell phone chargers, coffee pots, toasters, lamps.  I am just pulling the plugs on things that are easy to get to that I don't need.  I am also trying to be more conscious about how I use electricity.  Like running the dishwasher and doing laundry after 7pm when the electricity rates are lower.

If you are looking for a few freebies head on over to the Disney store with 6 empty bottles or can to get a free baseball cap that is made from 6 recycled bottles!

Check out the Clarins counter and bring in any empty or filled bottle of skin care you have they will give you a full size bottle of Clarins cleanser

Do you have another way that you are trying to save the Earth?  Let me know and leave a comment

I don't know about you but my kids love going to Sesame Place.  They spalsh around in the water all day and when they need a break from being wet they like to check out the Elmo show, climb the ropes, play arcade games, and ride the rides.  They never want to leave!  Sesame Place is set to open on May 1st for the season this year and they are celebrating their 30th Birthday.  Due to our terrible economy this is the first year in about five years my family will not be getting season passes :(  BUT  if I am lucky enough to win a giveaway at http://frugalphillymom.blogspot.com/  then I won't have to see the dis appointment on my kids faces.

Zumba class

In an effort to lose my neverending battle of the bulge I have been trying to walk with a friend as often as I can and today I went to a Zumba class.  All I can say is that the skinny bitch that is hiding inside me kicked my chubby a$$ today in Zumba!  BUT....i wanna go back tomorrow to kick her a$$!!   I can't seem to lose an ounce.  My daughters communion is coming up and I want to look gorgeous...is that too much to ask?

I am sick and tired of being sick and tired and I am sick of being limited to my clothes shopping at the fat girl stores (AVENUE, LANE BRYANT, and the big woman sections at MACYS AND JCPENNY) some of  the selections they have to offer are either for 21 years olds or much older than a 35 year old (ME).

One of my besties Carrie has really been inspiring me lately.  She is a mom of 4 year old twins and 14 year old teen.  She also just recently started working again and  has been getting up at 5 am to go to yoga just about everyday.  I don't know how she does it.  I guess if you put your mind to it......it can be done.

I figured my main goal these days is to try not to focus on what I am eating but to make every effort to exercise and drink water which I don't do on a regular basis.  If I can accomplish this goal it will become a habit and then I can move on to eating better

My 2 peeps on Easter

I am a terrible parent

We ate dinner tonight a little late.  I spent a few hours out in the sun today running errands and walking in the park.  So after a dinner I was feeling a little cranky from all that sun.  Mr. Amazing normally goes and takes a nap after dinner because he works overnights for his civil servant job.  Anyway...we left clean up duty for Little Ricky & Little Lucy.  I went to snuggle up with Mr. Amazing and as we were laying there waiting for the kids and dog to jump in our bed we remembered the other day how both kids were afraid to walk down the hallway by themselves without the light on and how they pushed me in front of them because they knew daddy was going to jump out and scare them....

We laughed about it and then I told Mr. Amazing why don't we go into the kids rooms and then scare the crap out of them when they walk down the hallway....(right now I am laughing out loud to myself as I am writing this)  We went into their dark rooms and waited......Little Lucy was the 1st victim.  As she rounded her doorway to put the light on I was standing there and jumped out and yelled BOO!!!  WELL she jumped sky high, started screaming and nearly ran herself into the wall.   Mr. Wonderful and I nearly pissed our pants.  I felt bad aftewards because she was so upset and started to cry.  Little Ricky knew better than to come down the hallway.  This went on for 15 minutes or so...trying to coax him to bring us a glass of water or to get ready for bed.  He kept asking us to talk so he can hear what room we were in.  We all settled down into bed and started watching tv when all of the sudden the stupid dog kept barking. I told Little Ricky to make him be quiet.  As he went to quiet the dog I snuck into my daughters room and scared him so bad he jumped up and screamed, fell against the wall like a ton of bricks and fell on his butt leaning a small hole in the wall.  I thought Mr. Amazing was going to die from laughing so hard because he fell out of the bed!

Am I a terrible parent or what?  Mr. Amazing had said our parents never did messed up crap like this to us.  Just trying t make memories!
